Towards the end of the year I was giving a presentation on the practices and came across this website that I thought did a very nice job of explaining them in a nice easy way and giving some suggestions on implementing them.
I really liked the way they rewrote each practice in perfect kid friendly terms so I turned them into these posters that I plan to put up in my room and use somehow. I figure that the first step to using them with kids will be to make sure that the kids can understand what they mean so that's as far as I've gotten.

I like these a lot. I like how they are universal to which ever standards your school has adopted. I downloaded these and will also use them in my room somehow.

The posters are great. Thanks for posting and sharing them. I really appreciate the thoughts and resources that you've shared. I guess one of the good things about the advent of education technology. As a teacher, I can really benefit from it. For example, I stumbled upon a tool called ClassroomIQ (https://classroom-iq.com). It’s a very efficient grading tools. It helps me grade homework and exams more quickly and easily. It’s a very handy and convenient tool to have. Anyway, great post!

ReplyDeleteI posted mine last year, but did not do a great job of intentionally incorporating them or pointing them out to students. This year I plan to give the students this version, but I'm going to make a little according book out of it and have them to keep them in the INB's and will refer to them throughout each task in the unit. I think this will help the students take more ownership. Oooh! I just got an idea for a self-check, rating chart that the students can do at the start of year and at different intervals throughout. These simple practices can be used as the headings, and then 3-5 characteristic of the practices can be listed underneath to help students make a good assessment of themselves.

ReplyDeletesure..."Mathematical Practices" is KG Seven Sisters and the text in the bubbles is Ventura Edding. Not sure where I got them from, but if you google them you should be able to find them..they were both definitely free ones
